In September 2015, the UN General Assembly unanimously adopted Transforming Our World: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (“The 2030 Agenda”), an ambitious plan of action establishing 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 global targets. These Goals and targets provide an integrative framework, encompassing the social, economic, and environmental dimensions of sustainable development. Yet a 2018 PwC study on the 2030 Agenda finds that while 72% of companies referred to the Goals in their annual reports only 19% of their CEOs mentioned them in Chair reports and companies have yet to formulate a concrete plan to incorporate the SDGs into strategies and actions. (Source: PwC SDG Reporting Challenge 2018.) As the SDGs lead the way in driving purpose, permanence and impact in global sustainable development, it is imperative that we accelerate our organizational sustainability agenda to integrate goals and targets outlined by the 2030 agenda. Key takeaways for webinar participants include:
A brief overview of the SDG’s including sector trends and benchmarks; An SDG integration roadmap process; Industry examples demonstrating how SDG’s are driving organizational change and performance; and Practical tools and techniques for SDG implementation.
